Who is a Radiographer?

A Radiographer is also called a Radiologic Technician or a Radiologic Technologist. He/ She is a trained healthcare professional who can operate the medical imaging equipment. They are helpful for physicians to treat and diagnose medical conditions through diagnostic images like X-rays, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

The role of a Radiographer is to maintain medical imaging equipment, minimize radiation exposure to the patients, maintain the complete record of procedures, work closely with other healthcare professionals, interact directly with patients, etc. They should be updated with the latest technology and equipment. They have to be specialized in some areas to be experts by improving their skills.

Qualification for a Radiographer

The aspirants who wish to become a Radiographer have to select a science group in their study of Intermediate or Plus two course. For graduation study, they must complete a bachelor’s degree in the field of Radiography or the nearest course branch. After the studies are completed the individuals should attend a certification exam and must be qualified in the exam to aim for a registered Radiologist Technologist. Two-year and four-year programs of degrees are available to the candidates who wish to be a Radiographer. A radiographer has to be certified or licensed.

Radiographer Vacancy Selection Process:

To obtain the position of a Radiographer vacancy in Central Government aspirants have to follow a specific procedure. Some of the vacancies need certain requirements, so all the posts will not be of the same type. According to the notification first, the application is to be submitted. The applications will be shortlisted and a screening test will be conducted for the selected applicants.

The aspirants have to then go through a personal interview and a technical assessment test to assess their knowledge. Then a background check and a reference check are made and finally, the job is offered to the eligible person. The pay scale and all the other terms for the vacancy are discussed and the job is offered to the applicant. The salary for a Radiographer is high in the government department when compared to the government sector.
