The medical sector and its related departments deal with post-bearing Optometry and release many of the notifications through private and government hospitals.

What is Optometry?

Examining eyes and their related structures for finding the defects with a specialized profession in health care is called Optometry. The diagnosis of the eye is made through Ocular tonometry to determine intraocular pressure, Slit lamp examination, Visual acuity, Refraction assessment, and Retina examination.

The commonly found diseases are Cataracts, Strabismus, Glaucoma, Amblyopic, Eye tumours, Uveitis, Dry Eye Syndrome, Macular degeneration, Strabismus, Refractive errors, corneal disease, Hypertensive retinopathy, Diabetic retinopathy. Systematic abnormalities of the eye are found and treated by optometrists who prescribe contact lenses, eyeglasses, and many other visual aids. Testing, Test analysis, diagnosis, prescription, surgery, treatment, care, evaluating the medical history, and Counseling are the main job roles of the optometrist.

Study of Optometrist:

An individual who plans to become an optometrist should attain a 10+2 degree from a recognized university with 50 per cent of marks with a science branch, a bachelor’s degree with biological sciences emphasis, or a pre-medical or optometrist course. The Bachelor of Science is a three-year course, and the Bachelor of Optometry is a four-year graduate program. Optometry Admission Test (OAT) should be qualified before applying to an optometry program.

If the candidate wants to perform a master’s in the concerned field, they can go for a master’s degree in science group or a Master of Optometry. The aspirants can plan their careers in scientific research to find new investigations in Optometry.

An Optometrist can also be called an eye doctor. The competitors who wish to select a job role related to optometry should be alert enough to get responses for the notifications that are out by the governments or private departments of different states. The experienced persons find a huge number of openings when compared to that of a fresh graduate or a postgraduate. A wise selection to be made and approach to the next steps of application.
